Meeting Missions: A Complex Clinical Hiring Landscape

High turnover, persistent staffing shortages and a need for highly specialized, credentialed talent — the medical industry has faced various workforce challenges in recent years. Coupled with a declining interest in nursing careers and reduced enrollment in nursing education programs, a leading medical organization knew it needed recruitment support to prepare for its rapid US expansion. When considering a new recruitment process outsourcing provider, they wanted a true workforce partner  one that was capable of filling nursing and other niche roles for multiple new locations nationwide. Ultimately, the client chose AGS Managed Services (AGS).

AGS hit the ground running, tasked with ramping up hiring, restoring trust in the program and consistently sourcing niche talent from multiple markets across the US, ranging from rural to urban areas.

Taking Action: Prescribing Solutions for a Niche Market

Shortly after launching the partnership, the AGS team was able to establish trust with our client by demonstrating our recruiting capabilities and market analytics expertise – proving we understood their business needs and the unique recruiting challenges they faced in various markets. We collaborated with regional hiring managers to identify their specific needs, talent gaps and hiring challenges, and design a customized sourcing strategy to reach their goals.

With nurses in high demand, our team quickly built a sourcing plan that would be effective for hiring clinical talent. For example, traditional job boards and corporate-focused social media outlets weren’t effective for finding top nursing talent. We staffed our team with experienced recruiters, most with three to five years’ experience, and 15% with over six years’ experience. This level of expertise allowed us to meet growing hiring demands, placing a previously unprecedented 14,000 to 16,000 employees annually.

The team adapted to the evolving landscape of the medical field as technological advances shifted skill requirements. While the medical industry experienced massive changes during and after the COVID pandemic, our team reduced the time-to-hire for nurses from more than 60 days to just 45 days. At one point in the 12 months following COVID, we managed over 8,000 requests, achieving success for our client during a challenging period in the medical field.

Delivering Impact: Healthy, Sustainable Results

By rapidly responding to our client’s needs, the company expanded AGS’ operations from a single region to national coverage, in less than a year. By integrating seamlessly with the client’s internal team, we quickly adopted a 50/50 model for managing recruitment processes. We now manage 80% of the hiring, while the remaining 20% is handled internally by the client.  We have become the “one-stop shop” for their hiring needs and have built a relationship that continues to produce results for their growing business.
